Gonorrhea Symptoms

There are a lot of websites out there who seem to describe similar gonorrhea symptoms, so what I have done is put a list together of all of them. Please remember that this is a guide, and although the symptoms listed maybe similar to what you have, it does not mean you have the clap. You need to get a test.

Let's start with the male symptoms of gonorrhea.text

Male Symptoms of the Clap / Gonorrhea

It is amazing to think that it is possible to have gonorrhea, but not feel anything is wrong. Some men with gonorrhea may have no symptoms at all. However, some men have signs or symptoms that appear two to five days after infection; symptoms can even sometimes take as long as 30 days to appear.

Symptoms and signs include a burning sensation when urinating, or a white, yellow, or green discharge from the penis (check the stains in your underwear). Sometimes men with gonorrhea get painful or swollen testicles although that is not so common. The penis will probably look redder and tender than usual, and there might be swelling of the glands in the groin area.

Symptoms of rectal infection in men may include discharge, anal itching, soreness, bleeding, or painful bowel movements. Rectal infection also may  cause no symptoms.

Infections in the throat may cause a sore throat, or sometimes even a pus-filled growth in the tonsil or at the back of the throat, and difficulty in swallowing. Usually, though,  no symptoms can be observed.

A gonorrhea eye infection is pretty easy to see, so get it checked out quick. Don't take a chance with your eyes.

So in conclusion you might have it, but just don't know it. If you feel something is wrong get it checked out. If you are sexually active it is a good idea to get a 3 monthly check up.

Men who leave their gonorrhea untreated are also at risk for developing epididymitis, a painful condition of the testicles which can ultimately lead to infertility. (No more babies)

Female Symptoms of The Clap / Gonorrhea

Most infected women, on the other hand, do not usually exhibit gonorrhea symptoms or quite often only have mild symptoms. Because a large number of women do not show signs of the infection, gonorrhea is sometimes referred to as the "silent infection." This is because women often exhibit few or no symptoms, or mistake gonorrhea for a mild bladder infection. This is patently dangerous for women, because gonorrhea can lead to serious and permanent complications if left untreated.

In the early stages, gonorrhea symptoms in women can commonly include frequent and painful urination (a burning sensation when urinating) and bleeding after sex.

Later symptoms in women include nausea, fever, vomiting, bleeding between periods, and a thick yellow or bloody vaginal discharge.

There are possible consequences of infection if it goes untreated, as gonorrhea can be a potentially hazardous disease. Women infected with gonorrhea risk developing a variety of complications. The bacteria can easily travel from the cervix into the uterus, and eventually up the fallopian tubes. This can cause a condition called Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). 15% of women who have the infection in their cervix will develop this disease. PID can damage your fallopian tubes and may lead to infertility. It can also increase your chance of having an ectopic pregnancy. This occurs when a fertilized egg grows outside of the uterus, usually inside of the fallopian tubes. Ectopic pregnancies are extremely dangerous and potentially life threatening.
